My oil painting of the Neuadd Valley in the
Brecon Beacons (Bannau Brycheiniog), Wales. The early morning light softly lit up the rolling hills, giving the greens an ethereal other-worldly glow. The river leading into the reservoir was lit up as it caught the light.
I visited the Brecon Beacons in September last year and (thanks to my friends' enthusiasm) embarked on the Horseshoe hike to climb Pen Y Fan before sunrise. It was cold and dark but such a fun adventure!
This scene is painted from a photo I took from the bottom of the Pen Y Fan mountain after we'd climbed up and then down the peak.
The soggy path to continue the hike snaked around the hill and the soft but vivid colours were breathtaking. Just beautiful!
